Gun control and abortions

Typical conservative / republican responses: Birth control? BAN IT! Abortion? BAN IT! Gay marriage? BAN IT! Guns? Look, banning things never works. People will find ways to get them How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion - mandatory 48-hour waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he's about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence... Let's close down all but one gun shop in every state an make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun. Instead of banning abortions (which is actually a safe medical procedure to ensure the life of the currently living mother is still preserved), put in PREVENTATIVE measures. Prevention is better that reaction. Americans stand around with hands in their pockets, prayers in their hearts, 60 seconds of silence as reaction. All useless and pathetic. Standing around as the “worlds keepers of the peace”. The hypocrisy and very low bar they set doesn’t give anyone any desire to stand in solidarity with Americans. In fact, the rest of the world sadly laughs at your stupidity, arrogance and ignorance. Perhaps the American time has come. Natural evolution takes its role. Prevention is ALWAYS better than reaction. With both guns and abortions put in preventative measures. Preventative actions For guns:
  • amnesty programs
  • Difficult background checks
  • Mandatory Training
  • Long mandatory licences
  • Psychological assessment
Preventative actions for abortions
  • Access to free contraception
  • Make adoption easier
  • Comprehensive sex education
  • Removing the taboo around sex
  • Teaching young men consent
  • Mandatory reverse-able vasectomy on men
  • Welfare funding
  • Paid family / parental leave
  • Remove the wage gap
Prevention is not solved by a one stop silver bullet. Instead, it’s a mixture of a variety of measures that attempt to address the multifaceted issue.
